My kids LOVE doing scavenger hunts! So, to make Valentine’s Day a little extra special, I created a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt for them. I decided to a make eight cards to hide in different places around the house. The clues should be pretty easy for kids to figure out on their own. Setting Up the Scavenger Hunt

First, you will want to print out the materials from the free download at the end of this post. It includes instructions on how to set up the scavenger hunt, a card to give your kids to get them excited for the hunt, 8 clue cards, and a card to put with the prize/gift at the end of the hunt.

Get ‘Em Excited!

I always like to build up excitement, so I included a card to give my kids before starting the hunt. I put the heart on the bottom half of the page so it could be folded in half and stand. Then you can place it somewhere for your kids to see.

Also, you can cut the sheet in half or cut just the heart out and give that to your kids.

Another fun idea is to put it in their lunch box for them to find at school. You can add a little note to let them know when the hunt will be – as soon as they get home from school, after dinner, etc.

Hiding Your Clues

I tried to include clues to places that everyone has in their house, such as the refrigerator, a place where you store your games, the bathroom, etc. Hopefully all the clues will work for you.

On the instruction sheet, I put where to hide each specific clue in parenthesizes at the end of the clue. I would recommend keeping the instruction sheet with you as you hide your clues. Both the instructions and clues themselves are numbered to help you keep track of where you are at in hiding your clues.

End of the Scavenger Hunt

You will need to pick some sort of surprise to include at the end. I used the oven for the last location so that you can place something inside that can easily be hidden during the hunt.

It is totally up to you what kind of reward you want to be at the end. You could make it a gift, candy, small prizes from a dollar store, etc. My boys love donuts so I found some cute gift boxes at Walmart and placed donuts inside.

To go along with the surprise at the end I made a card that can be folded over to stand up on or by the surprise.

There is a copy of this card starting with “We love you!” or “I love you!” included in the free download.
